In April and September of the year 2021, my job brought me to Schiphol for noise measurements of approaching aircraft. My colleagues and me wanted to know whether it is possible to determine whether an aircraft has its landing gear extended or stowed away, simply from the sound it makes. In between measurements, I had some time to take pictures. Due to the rather low cloud base, that resulted in quite extraordinary photos, as the aircraft cast their shade on the clouds below.
