The Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment of Delft University of Technology hosts one of the highest-ranked architecture programs in the world. The Design as Politics group, initiated by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, is “exploring, researching and defining the boundaries, commonalities and tensions between the fields of politics and design”.
The section had its own website for quite some time, but this looked quite outdated when we started this project in 2016. Based on a commercially available WordPress-theme, I’ve developed a completely new online presence. The front page is home to an extensive news section and education and research projects are shown clean grids, which visitors can easily filter to more easily find the content they’re looking for.
The work done by graduate students is grouped by theme or graduation studio. Each year has a new one.
Clicking on one of the project photos at the bottom of the page opens up a overlay, containing information and imagery of the selected piece of research. The modal window removes all distractions and focuses all attention to the work on display.
